As with any other natural type of wood, bamboo requires some care, love and occasional attention.
Bamboo is a naturally anti-bacterial material but does require to be hand washed as our products are not suitable to go into the dishwasher or to be used in the microwave.
Our bamboo plates, bowls, spoons and forks love to be washed in warm soapy water. As bamboo is a porous material, we would not advise the item to be left to soak. Remember to always remove the silicone when washing to ensure a thorough clean and to allow the item to breathe and fully dry ready for the next use.
To ensure you get the most out of your beautiful items they do require to be oiled to nourish and moisturise the wood. This will avoid the item drying out which will cause the item to not be at its best and can lead to cracks appearing leaving the item unsafe for use. We would recommend that this is done any time that your bamboo is looking dry or discoloured or every few weeks, whichever is sooner.
We find the occasional eco-friendly ‘deep clean’ can do wonders for the long-term condition of your bamboo. It is possible being a natural material that bamboo can retain stains and odours. These can easily be removed by using a mix of baking soda and lemon juice or white vinegar. This will deodorise and clean your bamboo beautifully.
